1. NEW FEATURES

There are lots of new features on the site -
a mailing list, new look, beginners' lessons,
visitors' comments, new links, and minipolls:

a) The mailing list. As you (obviously) know,
there is now a mailing list. The mailing list
will:

- be spam-free
- be sent no more than once a month
- not be crammed with ads
- be informative regarding karnATik.com
- include fun trivia on karnATik music
- possibly include articles and other info

b) A new look and new location! If you haven't
seen karnATik lately, head to
http://www.karnatik.com.

It's got a more professional look, plus less
scroll time. And all the karnatik links are
still there. You can access everything easily.
Let me know what you think!

You can also access karnATik directly at:
http://www.geocities.com/promiserani2

Please update links and bookmarks.

c) Beginners' lessons. Whether you're a newbie
or a pro at karnatik, it's useful to practice
basic lessons to improve your voice control and
practice new ragas.

The basic varisais are provided with notations:
sarali varisai - basics
janta varisai - repeating swaras
daatu varisai - zigzags
melstayi and mandrastayi varisai - to stretch
your range
alankarams - for tala practice

Beyond that, there are also easy songs with
notations:

Geetams
Swarajatis
VarNams

And finally, our article on practicing singing!

Check out
http://www.geocities.com/promiserani2/beginner.shtml

d) Comments from visitors. Others have been to
the site, now find out exactly what they say.
All comments are anonymous to protect the
visitors' privacy.

Check out
http://www.geocities.com/promiserani2/visitors.shtml

e) An updated links section. They are organized
according to sites that have lyrics, general
karnatik, sites that are mainly audio, etc.
If you have a good site to add, let me know.

Also, karnATik features a new two links every
so often. This time, we have:

Palghat Raghu page
http://www.palghatraghu.com
Information on this mridangist plus some
audio clips, biographies, and more.

T.N. Bala's page
http://www.erols.com/tnbala
This composer and musician has his own page
that is witty and fun, including lyrics,
biography, sound bytes and more.

f) Minipolls. I have little questions
that show up on the right side of the page
that are relevant to karnATik and music, so
check them out and cast your vote. Some are a
bit controversial, so let your opinion be known.
There will be up to 10 different polls, so
try them all!
