manadai tERRikkO - Be clear in your heart.
aruLaik kAttukkO - Protect the grace (that comes to you),
anjezhuttaiyum pORRikkO - Cherish the five-lettered Mantra.

AmaiyAi - Like a tortoise (retracting its limbs),
Umaiezhuttu uLLirutti - keeping within the Pranava,
aindu uRuppaiyum - all five sense organs,

nADikkO - seek (Him),
karuttuL vaittu - keeping in (your) thoughts,
sOmashEkhara parattai - the Supreme lord who is adorned with the moon,
nAmena - as oneself.
(Seek the Lord knowing him to be your real inner self)
poruLai tEDikkO - Search for the purpose (of this birth).
mukti vazhiyai kUDikkO - Join the path of liberation.
Ananda kUttu ADikkO - Perform the dance of joy.
(Do not talk)
nAnenra sattam - the word "I".
Note: Umaiyezhuttu means the Omkara. The lord is to be meditated upon as oneself ( with "Soham bhaava") as per the scriptures.

pashukkaL ainduNDu - There are five cows
paTTi - in the cowshed (the body).
koTTilil aDaittuk-koNDu - Having locked them in the shed,
eTTezhuttu uruvai uNDu - having counted the eight-lettered Mantra many times,
poTTena pUNDukkO - quickly take up
japattil toNDu - service/worship through Japa.
aruLai INDukkO - Increase the grace (coming to you)!
nI kaNDAl - If you see
namadu ANDavan - our Lord,
tillai ambalat-tANDavan tannai - the dancer of the hall in Chidambaram (do not talk)

Note: The Panchakshara of Shiva is chanted along with some Beejaksharas and becomes eight-lettered. Refer to the fourth verse of Kodikkavi of Umapati Sivacharya.
