Meaning:
If one becomes a slave to the evil propensities of the five senses, how can he meditate on the holy feet of SrI RAma? Then where is the prospect of obtaining His grace? Is it not as ridiculous as lending the door of one's cottage to a neighbor and standing guard at one's own, all night trying to drive away the dogs itching to enter? It is as foolish as a faithless housewife going out to get some bran, leaving behind a potful of cooked rice to be carried away by monkeys. To advise such silly ones is like initiating a deaf person by whispering a sacred text in his ears.
