kAmini - O beautiful girl!
dAni sAmajEndra gAmini - O One with the gait of a king elephant in rut!
tapAmi iha - I suffer here.

anupallavi

mAnini - O Dignified one!

madhumAsa cAru dinAni - The beautiful days of spring
sukhadAni - giving joy (to others),
mAnanIya shrI padmanAbha dhutAni - being disregarded by the esteemed Sri Padmanabha, mama - (are) to me
tu mOghAni - but wasted, worthless.

citta swara sAhitya

madhupaveni - O One with bees buzzing (on flowers) in your braid !
anurajani - Through the nights,
manasA - in my mind
anukalayAmi - I repeatedly meditate on
(Sri Padmanabha)
dhAma dhATi vinirjita vidita sArasa vishikham - who trounces the famous Manmatha (who has lotus arrows), with an upsurge of radiance,
anupama pada nipatadakhila vibudham - who has all the Devas falling at his incomparable feet.

sa patih - that Lord

akrta - gave (promised)

lagati - cuts
hrdi - in the heart
bahudhA - repeatedly.
(ie he gave his word in seriousness, that he would come, but has not come)

ayi - Oh!
Akalaya iha hi - Bring (him) here indeed,
mApam -the lord of Ma(Lakshmi),
Apatita akhila Adhi bhara apaha sucaritam - the one with the virtuous conduct of removing the burden of sorrows that befall (devotees),
madhurasa madhurima sadrsha vacasam - the one whose words equal the sweetness of honey,
ati mrduhasam - the one with a gentle smile,
mayi sarasam - the one with affection towards me.

ayi - Oh!
adhunA - Right now,
tam rtE - apart from him,
pAtum mA - to protect me (who is)
nIrasa - listness,
sumashara Ashuga parIpatana - due to the incessant falling of Manmatha's arrows,
dhrta bisAm - wearing lotus-stems ,
upadhAnita bAhulatAm - who (lying on the floor) has her slender creeper-like arm as pillow,
mahAn nahi nahi - there is no one greater
iha - here.

(Lotus stems, vettiver, sandalpaste etc. are traditionally used to cool the body of someone suffering from fever)

suradhunI - the divine river Ganga,
apagata tamAh - without ignorance/darkness,
vishati - attain
aparam - another,
rtE - apart from
patIm apAnnidhim - (her) lord, the ocean ?

ayi kamani - O Charming girl!
sAdhaya - Fulfill
bahudhA - the intense
ratividhA - desires
mama manasi - in my heart.

sAmpratam - Now,
itah abhiyAhi - go from here
dhava samIpam - (to) near my husband,
tarasA - quickly.

nishA - The night
viratim AgatA - has reached its end.

ESha ravih - This Sun,
kokakAminI viyOga hA - the remover of the (pangs of) separation of the female Chakravaka bird,
agAd - has gone
pUrvashaila sImani - to the Eastern mountain side.

(Note: Chakravaka pairs are inseparable mates but cannot see at night. Hence every night they suffer separation and reunite at sunrise)

ca - And
sa shItamarud api - That cool breeze too,
vAti iha - blows here,
surabhi - with fragrance,
malaya mahIdharatah api - from the Malaya (Pothigai) mountain too.
