kOlap-pannirandu vAhan - He has 12 good-looking shoulders
malai pOlat-tAn tiraNDa - that are broad, resembling a mountain,
nal vivEgan - and he is very wise !

kIriccAyum - become torn and (hence) collapse.

tEmalart-tavishil - In the bed of the nectar-filled flower(lotus)
kAmamuTRu vandu kUDum uravADum - they come together to dally, overcome by love.

vari veLLaip-paNilarashi tAnum - the pile of white conches,
maDa minnAr vizhigaLenna mannu keNDai mInum - the Kendai fish that resemble lovely women's eyes,
muttam Inum - (all these) produce/simulate pearls.

vannat-tAmaraiyaik-kaNDu - Seeing the beautiful lotus,
vAyil madhura rAgam pADikkoNDu - singing sweet Ragas with its mouth,
mati mayangip - intoxicated,
pETTinuDan muyangiyE - united with its female,
kiDakkum vaNDu - lies the bumble-bee,
kaLLaiyuNDu - having drunk the nectar.

andarattu min pOl - Like lightnings of the sky,
an-nallAr - those good women
kongayAlE - with (well-endowed) bosoms,
kUDik nIndi viLaiyADi shellum - who gather, swim and play (in the river) and then go.
naDakkum nannaDaik-kurugi - Moved/impressed by their beautiful gait, as they walk,
annam shellum pinnam - the swans follow (them)

manda mEdi - The lethargic buffalo
uLLE eTTum - reaches in(to the water),
shinai varAlum mEle ezhuntu muTTum pOdu - when the pregnant Varaal fish jump up and hits against (its udder, like a calf would),
maDi shurandu - (then) its udders becoming full,
kanru tanai ninaindu - thinking of its calf,
pAlaik-koTTum - it yields milk
kaNDa maTTum - till as far as one can see.
