vanamAlI - Krishna, wearing a garland of forest flowers,
gAyati madhuraM - sings sweetly.

pushpa sugandhi sumalaya samIrE - In the lovely southern breeze that is sweet-smelling with flowers,
munijana sEvita yamunAtIrE - on the banks of the Yamuna that is inhabited by ascetics,

kUjita Suka pika mukha khaga kunjE - In the arbours where parakeets, cuckoos and other birds warble,
kuTilAlaka bahu nIrada punjE - amidst the cluster of clouds that resemble (his) curly locks of hair,
