Beginners' Lessons - Swarajatis
Swarajatis are the next level of musical composition after geetams. They are longer, composed usually in the third speed, and have a pallavi and more than one caraNam, first sung as swaras and then as lyrics. Some also contain an anupallavi. Shyaama Shaastri's ratna-trayam and others are rendered in concerts. Others describe topics of romance and are sometimes used in dance performances.
